‘Jnana Sindhu’ referred as the ‘The Blue Book’ is based Vedantha Vachana Shasthra, originally
written by Sri Chidananda Avadhootha, who had written it in Bhamini Shadpadhi poem. The book has been remarked as The blue book ironically by worldly people referring to ‘reading the book may spoil one’s body and senses, hence the blood may turn blue’, but how will mundane people trapped in their own sensory games understand the sublime essence of the book which makes one realize that they are much beyond the body that is anyways going to decay someday and shows one the Real Self of their own, the Blue One, and hence it definitely is ‘The Blue Book’ for leading one towards the Nilananda! Sri Sahajananda swamy has translated it into prose in kannada language with 49 chapters, 3654 verses!
Chidananda Avadhoota had given the copy of the book to the parents of a future Avadhoota even before the baby is born, telling parents Goddess will take birth as their son & to give the book to the boy when he will be twelve year old who is destined to become an Avadhutha by name Ajatha Nagalinga Swamy at Navalagundha in North Karnataka.
Jnanasindhu verses are dialogue between Shiva and Shanmukha, where Shiva is giving the eternal wisdom to Shanmukha and unraveling the mysteries of creation. But why did Shiva chose to confer this wisdom to Shanmukha only, not Ganesha or any others? Here it is very important for one to understand the subtle meaning of this allegorical expression: Shiva is the Supreme Conciousness, Shanmukha means the face with six apertures (nose, 2 eyes, 2 ears, mouth), when the Sadhak (spiritual aspirant) gets self-absorbed closing these six apertures, breathes within and looks inward, energies that are scattered outward gets centered, aligned and move within the Sushumna to the Brahmarandra, making the one have darshan of his own Self in Sahasrara. Since Ganesha is symbolic of Mooladhar (root chakra) and other deities are connected to various other spiritual elements, Shanmukha is felicitous as a Sadhak.
